Opéra Bastille
Renovation and Extension of the Opéra Bastille, Competition 1st Price, 2018
Internship Henning Larsen
The Opera Bastille was built in 1989 by the architect Carlos Ott as the biggest French opera with 3 large halls. Due to budget shortage and political changes, the third modular hall was never finished and opened.
The project of Henning Larsen that was designed through a competition proposes a renovation and reorganization of the existing in order to use this 3rd hall and improve the efficiency of the back of stage. The project is also creating various extensions that integrate modestly in the existing building to offer a new lobby, rehearsal space and workshops. The extension is also creating a new urban connection to the viaduct des arts.
I worked on this competition, mainly on the urban concept, plans and façades of the workshops’ extension.
