La portée

This project was conceived during a structural experimental semester. Within a masterplan conceived by the whole studio, Sarah, Renaud and I decided to build the local theatre of this new district in Euromed in Marseille. Instead of placing it in a conventional building, we lifted the programm and decided to install the theatre on the public ground.

The artistic centre is lifted above a transformable plaza. This plaza is a mechanical ground that can evolve into different configurations. The theatre is then a movable space, a piece of immateriality between two spaces of high technicity (the machinery basement and the suspended production and backstage).

La portée means the span but also the stave. This project was evolving from a very sensitive and utopian approach while being also rationally structurally thought along workshops with engineers and accurate detailing.
