The garden building

This project was realized at the same time as a semester of research on the Italian villas of the renaissance. One of our analysis of this typology was that the gardens were using very similar composition tools as the buildings itself. Our proposal was to flip this idea and design the building with composition elements of the contemporary landscape design. We played with organic geometries, plays of masks, densities and perspectives, with topography and a very porous relation inside-outside.

The given program was to design the headquarters of a textile company on the site of an existing military base next to the Marseille seaside. We organized the whole site in different plateaux with very different ambiances and publicness both in the exterior and inside of the building.
