Place de Brouckère

Housing development, Brussels, 2016

Internship Henning Larsen

Brussels is synonym of urban wilderness. The place de Brouckère is one of the main squares of the city. This large development of housing, offices, hotels and public uses was conceived to both relate to the local scale of historical brick buildings and to the modernist and post-modernist heritage on the higher levels.

The competition was won in 2017 and I have been working during 4 months of the preliminary design stage mainly on the design of the brick façades, trying out different compositions, brick assembly (partly with grasshopper scripting) and window types.
