The imperial arsenal of Gdansk is a very particular place for Gdansk as well as for Poland, strong piece of the naval history and then the birth place of the Solidarnosc movement. The project tries to reclaim the shipyard with respecting and giving uses to the beautiful existing buildings but also by making this area a proper city district.
The project is structured by three main axis, the marina quay, the central street and the green boulevard and as well as by three main public spaces, the Solidarnosc plaza, the water plaza with the main dock and the marina plaza. The project was developed in specific attention to the quality of the public spaces, of the possible typologies and to the sustainability aspects. For example the depollution of the industrial site, the conservation of built material, the filtering and collection of water and the optimization of the ground volumes.
I worked on the competition for the whole phase and focused mainly on the conception of the public spaces and helped for very various graphic documents.
