Dream cave

The plaza de Villa is one of the most central plaza of Madrid, surrounded by palaces and the old town hall. The project of the library is sunken into the ground, to not compete with its surrounding, and creating above ground a hilly mineral landscape, more ludic than the existing classical plaza.

While the main exterior space of the plaza is the roof, the interior of the library is then a pause in the city life, another space disconnected from urban excitation with a variety of spaces, ambiances and degrees of intimacy.
